The only successful outcome is the collapse of the ayatollah regime, just as defeat in the Falklands War led to the collapse of the vicious military junta.

If the current Iranian regime survives, with Iran's enormous natural wealth it will in time return to its nuclear project. No amount of international monitoring has ever been effective, as the UNIFIL 19 year mission in Lebanon reminds us.

In the short term Iran seems unable to assemble a nuclear weapon. Killing the top leadership, Ali Khamenei, his son and possible successor Mojtaba, and other senior figures will expose the regime's instability and weakness, as has happened before but this time there will be Israeli drones loitering over Teheran to prevent Basij and IRGC from putting down the demonstrators.

Any other outcome will guarantee a future problem of a theocratic, nuclear Iran.

Therefore US involvement is unnecessary and would be damaging to Israel as it would leave doubts on its ability to defend itself fully.
