Decivilization of the west. How appropriate a term! How unfortunate a future. I fear it may be late for the world may soon

wake up and ask what happened to our society. This will not end well if things don’t change very quickly, and it won’t end with the Jews either!!

Thank you for this necessary bracing wisdom on such a sad and ugly day.

As you mentioned, the sign that something ugly was (re)born and unleashed were the loud, proud celebrations of a massacre of Jewish civilians at our most prestigious universities and in our biggest cities on 10/7—before the bodies were buried, before there was any IDF response—a barbarity I'm not sure I've seen elsewhere. No matter how hated an adversary has been here in America, I cannot recall a joyous carnival breaking out upon learning that hundreds of innocent people had just been murdered. And then came the timorous non-response of our supposed leadership classes, who can't stand up until they see which way the wind is blowing and didn't want to challenge their angriest ugliest students and orgs, because this might be bad for business and their careers and also bc there was a big election coming up. Our Western leaders have failed every test they've been given and proven themselves to be loathsome, cowardly careerist conformists.

Once there was no forceful response against the Free Palestine! cult and their globalized intifada, today's pogrom was inevitable, as are more in the future.

The lights are going out all over Europe and the rest of the West, especially the Hanukah lights.

This is certainly bad news for Western Civilization but for the Jewish people it is an important reminder that we must leave these places we used to call home and move our families to Israel, our real homeland. We have no future in the West, including the United States. Anyone who can read a comment section on social media knows the United States is infested with jew hatred.

"Anyone who can read a comment section on social media knows the United States is infested with jew hatred"

A wildly misleading thought as the comments pages and demonstrations don't represent the US population; they represent only the people who never shut up.

There are over 50M Evangelical Christians in the US who strongly support Israel; a better result than the many ambivalent Reform congregations these days.

Inform yourself better!

I am very grateful for the support of the Evangelical Christian community. There is true warm and sincere support for Israel and the Jewish people. And American Evangelical Christians are more supportive of Israel than the leftist Jews you reference, who are a stain on our community. I have warm personal friendships with Evangelical Christians, and consider them my brothers and sisters in faith. What concerns me is that those loud people who speak up with their hatred of Jews are not often confronted about their hate. And the hate is now being fed by the likes of Tucker Carlson who is very influential with the current Vice President and possible next President. Perhaps I am a paranoid Jew who has watched too many Holocaust movies, but this paranoia is conditioned in Jewish people due to our history. I do hope all good Americans of every faith can join together to speak up about what is being said on social media, on college campuses, and in certain public forums like Tucker Carlson, Nick Fuentes, Candace Owens. We are all threatened by them. Not just Jews. And we all need to push back against their narrative. Tucker is not just anti Israel, he has become anti American. When I see Tucker Carlson pushing the idea that Qatar is America's best ally, the same Qatar that finances the Muslim Brotherhood, I really wonder how he continues to have so much public support. Are the American people that naive about Qatar and the Muslim Brotherhood?

Your comment is true. I’m an American Christian living in the NLs. VERY pro Israël, wearing a large Star of David necklace and Israeli scarf for all to see. (sometimes dangerous in Rotterdam).

Many of those commentators, as proven by the X location update, aren't even American. So many accounts spewing bile turned out to be foreign agitators.

Now is not the time for arguing, but I completely and totally disagree with you about the United States. Yes, we will defeat the crazies. We have the law on our side. We have the constitution. And oh yeah, we also have the majority of the population on our side. I don’t care whether you call me deluded or insane. That is my belief.

Are you moving to Israel? Do you live there?

Charles Goldberg's avatar

Having the majority of the population does not help because most people are not willing to stand up for the Jewish population and do something about the spreading hate. Throughout history the more radical people were the ones willing to take action and the "silent" majority did nothing to stop it. My wife is Israeli and we are actively considering moving to Israel. Its more a financial consideration at this time, but within 5 years I should have the financial means to move. Israel is our destiny. It has always been our destiny. It is our only true home.

One of the most unexpected effects, for me, of the past few years has been a renewed trust in the American people and Constitution. Things might get rough, but we'll get through together.

Diana Murray's avatar

That's exactly how I feel -- but things are getting very rough indeed. So that's why we need to keep our heads straight. And fight!

Budgie's avatar

I have more confidence in us as a people to fight than I ever expected to. We can handle whatever comes.

In the 1930s the United States had a tidal wave of antisemitism. Henry Ford, the country's foremost industrialist backed it vigorously, Father Charles Coughlin's antisemitic radio tirades had millions of listeners and Charles Lindbergh, a national hero, blamed Jews for foreign policy issues. Universities like Harvard and Columbia imposed Jewish quotas openly.

Yet the United States overcame this.

Diana Murray's avatar

If you think the United States is no different from any other country on earth, then I suggest you leave. This is probably not the place for you. I wish you well in Israel.

jo carr's avatar

To those who think America is an exception, I offer one piece of tragic evidence to the contrary: There has been no concerted effort by any Jewish or non-Jewish organization to lobby Trump to ban foreign donations to universities or investment in companies that produce educational materials for K-12 education, in the name of national security. Doing so is perfectly legal and a patently obvious move at this point. We need serious institutional leadership and in the Whitehouse.

The problem is when those in charge of making decisions believe their children are protected because they are in power and they are righteous.

I am not talking about the US but about Australia, Spain, the UK. These are countries where I have friends who, despite their privileged upbringing and education, despite their international lifestyles and their Taylor Swift family outings (which likely cost as much as the deposit I put for my first mortgage) they fail to navigate the new reality and are therefore constructing the new problems, including the Anti-Semitism we have witnessed yet again.

I think this is spot on, Hussein: a dark day but it's best to see the truth that it portends. The western elites have decided that it's easier to throw the Jews under the bus than to tackle Islamic jihadism and elite lefto-fascism. Given the alt right is reverting to it's nativist anti-semitic gut instincts Carlos, Fuentes, West etc) I don't think there is any saving grace there.

Perhaps it's time for Jews in the west ( and I include Australia) to do what they did when Moseleys brownshirts were on the rampage in the UK and develop a muscular response to protect our communities rather than hopelessly thinking the civic and political authorities will come to our defense? Thoughts....?

Those were different times David. Nowadays the “fascists” are on the left.

David Kalisch's avatar

So far the violence is coming from the Islamists but is given cover by leftist rhetoric and liberal laissez-faire tolerance. Praying to God or to the liberal authorities in the hope they will grow a backbone is futile. Therefore -just as we did with the Moseley mob - we need to look out for ourselves if Jewry in the west is not going to be re-getthoised, which is now a real danger.

Hatred of Jews: the blame MUST be pinned onto Islam itself.

There can be no more obfuscation. No more lies to shield the ideology. The fruits of a false prophet are rotten.

"Outside the United States, there is no Western political establishment with either the will or the capability to address this problem"

I disagree: European movements like Reform (UK), VOX (Spain), RN (France), VVK (Netherlands), AfD (Germany), Swedish Democrats are indeed working to reverse the trends and restore the values that made Europe the most important civilization in world history.

In Sweden and the Netherlands they are already minority partners. In France, Germany and Spain they face possible collusion from what should be their natural allies.

But a powerful movement to restore Europe is there and, given a fair chance in elections, has great possibilities of success, as did the America First movement 10 years ago.

You mean the AfD that believes everything is still fine in Russia? A conservative paradise? Where every second father is an alcoholic? The AfD that believes the whole of Ukraine should be allowed to be raped by Russia? Not sure about this AfD.

Les Vitailles's avatar

In WW2 the West allied with Stalin to defeat Hitler.

Russia is bad but so is Ukraine, which in 2016 renamed the largest avenue in Kiev after the leader of the Ukrainian Nazis. That is far from being an isolated case, as even a cursory look into the Azov Movement and its founder, Andrei Biletsky, will show. The Jewish people owe Ukraine and its "Jewish" President Zelensky nothing.

If the AfD will reduce the Muslim presence in Europe and continue to be the staunchest pro-Israel party in Germany, they're a great ally.

I don't know, Hussein, if you consider Latin America to be part of the West? If not, I really think you should consider it part of the West, at least culturally (speaking Spanish/Portuguese, being Catholic, etc.). I especially mean the likes of Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, and southern Brazil, which are all mainly white. If that's so, then under Pres. Javier Milei, Argentina is now a bulwark of Judeo-Christian values in the West, alongside the United States.

The collapse of distances between diasporas and "homelands" (real or fake) is a problem across the board. Globalize The Intifada is just one symptom of it. Americans shouldn't be killing Americans, or Australians killing Australians, because world governments are using religion as a tactic to bring the war home. Whether it's Israel first or Palestine first, it means America is last.
